While my new student drew her first still life I decided to make a few sketches. The man is from a book that I will be talking about soon and of coure, the back of  the woman is my student, and I have every student draw a can of bull dog clips as part of the still life so I decided to sketch that as well.

This is what I did two Saturdays ago.  I am trying to make it a habit to go to Flavor’s Cafe and Wine Bar to paint with Lynn once  a week.  The week leading up to this particular Saturday Joe came to visit and my classes at the community college started. (I am taking a math class and a small business class, if you care to know.)  I was very busy that week and did not really get into my studio. Joe also brought ALL my books down instead of just a few that I asked him for so my studio was and is over-flowing.

This is the boat after last Saturday. Not a lot of difference yet. I also made some more changes to the painting of the man in front of the standing Buddha.  I did not get a lot accomplished the week before that Saturday because the new bar down the street has started having live music and djs. No matter how many times the cops are called they just keep the music blasting until 2am. I was a complete zombie all week. Just when I started to get into a decent sleep pattern again, it was the weekend. This caused me to be a zombie for most of last week as well. Finally I decided to get some OTC sleep aid.  I’ve started to sleep better, but then it was the weekend again. I don’t want to take the sleep aid every night because it can be addictive. So I waited until last night to take it and I feel pretty good today. They really unfortunate thing is that I like to stay up late, my body’s natural rhythm is  to stay up all night, but I have school now and the household I’m in does not make for ideal day-time sleeping habits.  So I’m having a tough time of it right now, but hopefully that will stop soon.

I think I’m going to start looking for a gallery in St. Louis.

I worked on it a bit and I’ve decided to scrap it.

I think it looks better now, but it’s not the direction I want it to go. Perhaps when I start over I will continue to work on this one to see which I prefer.

Nom Nom. On Saturday night we had lobster at the house. While this one waited to be put into the pot we sketched it. I felt a bit bad, but he was pretty delicious.

This guy was kind enough to let me sketch him and he even sat down so I could paint this. Although he wasn’t with out a few jabs to my ability. I shrugged them off and was just happy to have something I really enjoyed in my larger sketchbook.

Some more sketches of the pottery guy. He made Raku style pottery and sold them in Wiscasset, directly across the tracks from Sarah’s Cafe.

I plan on doing a portrait of him with some of the photos I took.

Bob called this the Barfing Bovine. It was a cream pitcher. I enjoyed it.
